Dr. Mohataz Hossain is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Architecture & Technology at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), leading teaching and research in sustainable design, thermal comfort, and workspace efficiency. He holds roles as Postgraduate Research Tutor for the Architecture PhD program and Academic Adviser Lead. His research focuses on environmentally responsible architecture, with emphasis on net-zero carbon strategies and user well-being.
Education: Completed a Commonwealth-funded PhD in the UK, specializing in improving indoor environments of garment factories. Holds BArch, MArch, and advanced fellowships (SFHEA, FRSA). Affiliations include RIBA, CIBSE, and CIAT.
Research highlights include over 25 publications and grants exceeding £100K, including Innovate UK-funded projects on daylight performance and thermal comfort. He chairs RIBA Regional Building Awards (Sustainability) and contributes to editorial boards and international conferences.
Teaching spans undergraduate/postgraduate courses in architecture, including BSc Architecture, BArch (RIBA Part 1), and Degree Apprenticeships. He supervises PhD students exploring topics like urban cooling and biophilic design.
