Satvinder Juss is a Professor of Law at King’s College London and holds roles as a Global Distinguished Professor at the Notre Dame London Law Programme, Deputy Judge of the Upper Tribunal (since 2010), and Barrister-At-Law at Gray’s Inn. His career spans academia, legal practice, and public service, including roles as a Reader-in-Law (2003–2008) and Advocate for the Equality and Human Rights Commission of England and Wales (2015–present).
He earned a PhD in Law from Emmanuel College, Cambridge (1986) and was a Harkness Fellow at Harvard Law School (1996). His research focuses on human rights, migration law, and international refugee law, with notable publications including Human Rights in India (2019) and Bhagat Singh: a life in revolution (2022).
Juss actively contributes to legal education, teaching courses such as International Refugee Law. His professional affiliations include membership in the Indian Council of Arbitration and editorial roles for major legal publications. Beyond academia, he engages in cultural activities like ghazal singing and maintains a family life in the UK.
