Satoshi Toyosaki is a Professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU) in the College of Liberal Arts. He serves as the Japanese Advisor and Director of International Studies, teaching courses on Japanese language and culture, language pedagogy, and international education. His teaching extends beyond campus through a study-abroad program based in Japan.
His research spans interdisciplinary areas, combining insights from Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Education, History, and Anthropology, with a focus on intersectional identity politics in global and educational contexts. He employs qualitative and interpretive methodologies, including ethnography, to explore these themes.
