Satish Deshpande is the Dean of the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University and holds the title of G. W. Haworth Professor of Business Administration. He has been a faculty member since 1990, specializing in human resource management and ethics. His academic leadership roles include serving as Interim Dean (2016–2018) and Associate Dean for Operations and Graduate Programs (2011–2016).
- Education: Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Iowa, post-graduate diploma from Xavier Labor Relations Institute, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bombay.
Dr. Deshpande’s research focuses on managerial decision-making, healthcare management, and applied psychology in human resources. He has published over 90 refereed articles in journals like the Academy of Management Journal and Journal of Business Ethics, addressing topics such as labor negotiations, ethical conduct, and healthcare management.
His professional accolades include the Haworth College of Business Dean’s Teaching Award and Research Award. Deshpande has contributed to academic initiatives, including creating a human resources management major and leading the college’s accreditation process with AACSB International. He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and Japan’s Nihon University.
