Sass Boucher is a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the School of Medicine, Keele University. She holds an MSc from Keele (2016) and has over seven years of experience in private practice, specializing in trauma-related cases through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) across emergency services, healthcare, and education sectors. Previously, she worked in third-sector domestic abuse services, holding roles such as Local Authority Domestic Abuse Partnership Coordinator and Social Work practice educator.
Her research focuses on professional wellbeing in high-stress roles, notably her MSc study 'Looking through a Lens of Terribleness', which explored trauma support professionals' needs. This research led to a BACP conference presentation and an article in the BACP Workplace journal. She co-founded the non-profit SelfCare Psychology (2017) to extend training in self-care practices for frontline workers.
Key contributions include chapters on professional self-care in crisis roles for books like Share a new social work model and Conversations that Make a Difference. Her work bridges clinical practice, trauma studies, and organizational support systems.
