Saskia Hufnagel

Professor Saskia Hufnagel is a legal scholar at the University of Sydney Law School and Co-Director of the Sydney Institute of Criminology. She holds a PhD from Australian National University and is a qualified German legal professional specializing in criminal law. Her research examines global law enforcement cooperation patterns, art crime investigation methodologies, and comparative criminal justice systems across the UK, Germany and Australia.

Research interests focus on international policing frameworks, cultural property crimes, and transnational criminal networks. Her work analyzes legal harmonization challenges in cross-border investigations and develops comparative models for art crime prosecution.

Recent publications demonstrate growing focus on digital dimensions of art crime including NFT regulation and cryptocurrency-enabled illicit markets. Her scholarship consistently addresses jurisdictional complexities in policing global criminal flows.
