Sasha Costanza-Chock (she/they/ella/elle) is a nonbinary trans* femme researcher and designer affiliated with Harvard University's Berkman-Klein Center for Internet & Society as a Faculty Associate. They concurrently serve as Head of Research & Sensemaking at OneProject.org and hold leadership positions including Steering Committee membership in the Design Justice Network. Their interdisciplinary work bridges technology, social justice, and community empowerment.
Their research focuses on design justice frameworks that center marginalized communities, transformative media organizing strategies for social movements, and dismantling systemic oppression through community-led processes. Key domains include participatory design methodologies, algorithmic accountability, and developing equitable technology ecosystems that advance collective liberation and ecological survival.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on power structures in sociotechnical systems, with recurring themes of co-design practices, digital resistance strategies, and reimagining technology through intersectional feminist lenses. Recent works critically examine AI ethics, platform governance, and community-based alternatives to extractive technologies.
