معرفی
Sarki A. Abdulkadir is the John T. Grayhack, MD Professor of Urological Research, Vice Chair for Research, and Professor of Urology and Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He leads research on molecular mechanisms driving prostate cancer initiation, progression, and recurrence, with a focus on genomics, oncogenic kinases, and epigenetics. His work bridges basic science and clinical translation, aiming to develop novel therapies.
Education:
- MD: Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria (1990)
- PhD: Johns Hopkins University (1995)
- Postdoctoral Training: Washington University in St. Louis (2000)
Research Interests: Dr. Abdulkadir’s lab investigates prostate cancer origins, tumor heterogeneity, and therapeutic resistance. Key areas include FOXA1 protein function, epigenetic regulators like DOT1L, and genomic drivers of treatment resistance. His interdisciplinary approach leverages in vivo lineage tracing and CRISPR technologies to elucidate cancer cell behavior.
Awards:
- 2020 Tripartite Legacy Prize (Northwestern)
- 2020 Illinois Science & Technology Coalition Researcher Award
- 2017 ASCI Membership
Grants & Mentorship: Principal Investigator on NIH R01 and P50 SPORE grants. Mentor to over 20 trainees, including Jonathan Anker, who discovered bacterial strains for prostate cancer immunotherapy. Leads collaborative projects at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and Simpson Querrey Epigenetics Institute.
