Sargam Mulay is a Researcher at the University of Glasgow's School of Physics and Astronomy since July 2021, previously serving as a Research Assistant (2019-2021). She holds a Ph.D. in Solar Physics from the University of Cambridge (2018), focusing on solar active region jets. Her work has included postdoctoral research at IUCAA, Pune (2018-2019), studying sigmoid observations with Prof. Durgesh Tripathi. Her research emphasizes observational spectroscopy, solar flares, coronal heating, and molecular hydrogen emission analysis using IRIS satellite data. Key collaborations include studies with Prof. Lyndsay Fletcher at Glasgow and Prof. Helen Mason at Cambridge.
Education: Ph.D. in Solar Physics (University of Cambridge, 2018), prior research at IUCAA and collaborative work across institutions like NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Research Interests: X-ray/UV spectroscopy of solar phenomena, reconnection processes in flares, molecular hydrogen emission diagnostics, and multiwavelength analysis of active region jets. Her work bridges observational data from SDO, Hinode, IRIS, and RHESSI with theoretical models.
Publications highlight contributions to solar energetic particle studies, flare dynamics, and coronal flow mechanisms. Her recent focus on molecular hydrogen emission in flares has advanced understanding of chromospheric processes. Collaborative projects include studies of nonthermal radio bursts and spatial correlations with solar jets.
