Avijeet Prasad

Avijeet Prasad is a Research Fellow at the Rosseland Center for Solar Physics, University of Oslo. His research focuses on magnetohydrodynamic simulations of the solar corona, magnetic reconnections, and high-energy phenomena like solar flares and CMEs. He has held postdoctoral positions at institutions including the University of Alabama, Huntsville and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. Prasad earned his Ph.D. from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (2016) under Prof. Arun Mangalam, with a thesis on magnetic helicity in astrophysical magnetic fields. His work integrates advanced numerical models with observational data from missions like Hinode and SDO to study magnetic field topology and plasma dynamics. Key contributions include analyzing magnetic null points, flux rope formation, and Joule heating mechanisms in solar active regions.
