Guillaume Aulanier is an Astrophysicist and Administrator in research and higher education. He holds dual roles as an Astronomer at the Paris Observatory (affiliated with the Plasma Physics Laboratory, LPP) and as a Professor at the University of Oslo's Rosseland Center for Solar Physics. His primary affiliation is with Sorbonne University, where he is based at the Pierre & Marie Curie Campus. He serves as Chief Scientist of the Meudon spectroheliograph at Paris Observatory and Deputy Director of the graduate program in astrophysics at Université PSL.
His research focuses on solar eruptions, magnetic reconnection processes, and coronal dynamics. Using advanced observations from missions like Solar Orbiter and numerical simulations, he studies phenomena such as coronal mass ejections (CMEs), solar flares, and flux rope formation. Key contributions include insights into CME initiation routes, null-point reconnection, and the role of magnetic field topology in solar eruptions.
Recent publications emphasize high-resolution observations of flare ribbons, coronal rain dynamics, and ultra-high-resolution studies of reconnection sites. His work bridges observational solar physics with computational models to advance understanding of space weather drivers and heliospheric processes.
