Sarai Brinker serves as Associate Director for Academic Studies & Affairs and Assistant Professor of Practice in Musicology and Music Humanities at Texas Tech University's School of Music. An award-winning educator, she specializes in music and society, globalization, popular music, creativity, and Western art music spanning from Hildegard of Bingen to Taylor Swift.
Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Natural History & Humanities and Music from Texas Tech University, an M.A. in Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University, and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts with musicology emphasis from Texas Tech University.
Dr. Brinker's research focuses on ethnomusicological fieldwork in Ethiopia examining worship music in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and in Ghana studying Christian missionary impacts on Nalerigu hymns. Her doctoral work on integrated arts practices in prenatal education established her affiliation with Carnegie Hall's Lullaby Project. She actively pioneers the scholarship of teaching and learning with innovative applications of artificial intelligence in educational and creative contexts.
Her distinguished contributions to pedagogy have earned recognition through:

As an academic leader, she serves as a Carnegie Hall Lullaby Project and Link Up Programs teaching artist, and founded Lubbock's Tenx9 storytelling chapter.
