Julia Kovalev is a Lecturer at Westminster Conservatory of Music (Rider University) and the Honors Music Program, teaching piano, music theory, and chamber music. She holds a M.M. from Petrozavodsk State Conservatory (Russia) and a B.M. from Chernigov Music College (Ukraine).
Her research includes historical studies on early women composers like Hildegard of Bingen, conducted at The Russian Institute for the History of the Arts in St. Petersburg. Pedagogically, she specializes in early childhood music development and international examination preparation (ABRSM, RCM, Trinity).
As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, she serves as NJMTA's Coordinator for MTNA Students Composition Competition. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes transmitting musical passion across all age groups and skill levels.
