Sarah Viren is an Associate Professor of English at Arizona State University (ASU), affiliated with the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict and serving as a Senior Global Futures Scholar. She is a contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine and author of multiple acclaimed works, including the essay collection *Mine* (2018) and the forthcoming memoir *To Name the Bigger Lie* (2023). Her scholarly work focuses on literary essays, literary translation, and creative writing.
Education: PhD from Texas Tech University and MFA from the University of Iowa. Awards include the River Teeth Book Prize, NEA Fellowship, and Fulbright grant to Colombia.
Her research explores intersections of narrative form, ethics, and cultural translation. She has translated Federico Falco’s *Córdoba Skies* (2016) and co-edited *The Great American Essay* (forthcoming).
