Sarah Vincent is an Associate Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Philosophy at the University at Buffalo. She holds a PhD from the University of Memphis. Her research focuses on intersections between philosophy of cognitive science and moral psychology, particularly regarding nonhuman animals and neurodivergent persons, alongside aesthetics and the metaphysics of death. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Medical Ethics, and Philosophy of Mind.
Her notable works include studies on interspecies ethics, animal cognition, and innovative pedagogy, including the liquid syllabus initiative. She has presented widely on topics ranging from neurodiversity to wildlife policy in the Anthropocene. Vincent is affiliated with interdisciplinary groups in cognitive science and bioethics at UB.
Her publications explore animal moral agency, comparative cognition, and educational methodologies. She actively engages with public philosophy through talks and conferences, advocating for inclusive academic policies and ethical frameworks for human-animal interactions.
