Sarah Valdez is Associate Professor at Linköping University's Institute for Analytical Sociology, focusing on ethnic segregation patterns and their societal impacts. Her research examines school segregation mechanisms, immigrant educational assimilation, and the relationship between ethnic contact and political attitudes.
Current projects investigate how residential segregation affects cultural capital transmission among second-generation immigrants and develop computational methods to analyze segregation dynamics. Her work combines spatial analysis, survey data, and qualitative approaches to study diversification in contemporary Europe.
Valdez has secured significant research funding including a Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life, and Welfare (FORTE) grant for her work on segregation and educational outcomes. Her publications analyze anti-immigrant voting patterns, neonationalist party evolution, and educational disparities.
