Dr. Sarah Trussler is a Senior Lecturer in Education at York St John University, affiliated with the School of Education, Language and Psychology. She has over 30 years of experience in education, spanning primary school teaching and university lecturing across the UK and Thailand. Her expertise lies in inclusive education, mental health literacy, teacher identity development, and safeguarding practices. She teaches in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Children, Young People and Education (CYE), leading modules on inclusion, mental health, and Early Years education. Her research focuses on emerging teacher identity, mental health literacy, and leadership development in charitable organizations.
In her professional roles, Trussler serves as the School’s Employer Forum Lead, co-lead for learning and teaching, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Lead. She is also a Wellbeing Champion. Her publications include influential books such as *Supporting Mental Health in Primary and Early Years* (2019) and *Inclusive Practice in the Primary School* (2015), alongside a recent journal article on action learning in charity leadership teams (2024).
Trussler’s work bridges academic and practical domains, emphasizing social justice and equity. Her contributions include advising on safeguarding policies, mentoring student teachers, and supervising PhD/EdD researchers.
