Sarah Taillier is a Lecturer in Journalism at Curtin University (Perth, Western Australia), affiliated with the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry under the Faculty of Humanities. She also serves in the Office of the Provost. Her research focuses on emotional labor in journalism, newsroom culture, regional reporting, vicarious trauma, and self-care strategies for journalists. She actively engages in media commentary and public speaking about media industry trends and journalism practices.
In teaching, she leads undergraduate units such as Video News, Radio News, and Presentation for Broadcast. She holds a dual role as Editor of the Curtin journalism news site Western Independent and Program Coordinator for the School’s student mentor program. Additionally, she maintains a freelance career as a journalist and producer.
