Sarah Schott is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Mathematics at Duke University, affiliated with the Mathematics Department in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences since 2019. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Duke University (2012). Her research focuses on mathematics education, particularly STEM teaching and learning reforms, curriculum development, and sustainable educational change. She has led initiatives like SUMMIT-P, a multi-institution consortium improving undergraduate mathematics curricula. She currently serves as Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in Mathematics and has held roles including Assistant Professor of the Practice (2012–2019).
Her work emphasizes collaborative academic projects, such as the NSF-funded grant preparing graduate students for teaching and the Southeastern Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. She teaches courses like Laboratory Calculus II and Introductory Calculus II with Applications. She advises undergraduate students, mentors graduate teaching assistants, and participates in committees like the Calculus Committee and SPIRE advisory board.
Grants include leadership in the NSF IUSE SUMMIT-P project (2012–2014) and conferences funded by the Mathematical Association of America. Her outreach includes mentoring through the AWM program and the Penny Pilgrim George Women's Leadership initiative.
