Dr. Sarah Ross is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine & Geriatrics at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Her roles include teaching medical students and conducting research in geriatrics and dementia. She is board certified in family medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care, with a focus on bilingual patient care for Spanish-speaking individuals.
Dr. Ross holds a BS in Chemistry from Brigham Young University, an MS in Clinical Research, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from UNT Health Science Center.
Her research interests center on dementia, particularly in the Latino population, health literacy, and self-management of chronic diseases. She explores interventions like intermittent hypoxia training for cognitive impairment and the impact of aging on cerebral oxygenation and cognitive responses. She is affiliated with organizations such as the American Geriatric Society (AGS) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Dr. Ross has been involved in several sponsored projects, including the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program and studies on intermittent hypoxia training funded by the National Institute on Aging. She collaborates on projects addressing healthy aging and independent living, often serving as a Co-Investigator.
