Her research explores Chaucer’s dream visions, Augustinian interiority, and medieval scientific thought. Key publications include Textual Communities, Textual Selves (2023), analyses of Donne’s The Second Anniversarie (2015), and studies on Nicholas of Cusa’s philosophical debt to Augustine (2015). Her work traces tensions between sacred and secular knowledge, often examining how medieval traditions inform Renaissance literature.
Selected for the John Donne Society's Distinguished Publication Award (2015) for her article on spiritual anxiety in Donne’s poetry, Dr. Powrie’s scholarship integrates manuscript studies, intertextuality, and cognitive theory. She teaches courses ranging from Reading Poetry to Early Chaucer: Romance Tragedy, while serving on administrative committees like the Classical Medieval Renaissance Studies Executive and University Council.
