Sarah Pollock

Dr. Sarah Pollock is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of Social Care and Social Work within the Faculty of Health and Education. A registered Social Worker (SW13391) and Higher Education Academy Fellow (PR089938), she maintains active practice connections through roles including Chair of the British Association of Social Workers - Greater Manchester Branch and membership on the BASW International Committee.

Her research focuses on linguistic diversity in social work practice, interpreter-mediated services, and anti-racist frameworks. Funded by the Department for Education, British Academy, and Research Programme for Social Care, her work includes developing interpreter training for Greater Manchester social workers and leading the Transnational Social Work Special Interest Group's linguistic diversity sub-group through the European Social Work Research Association.

Dr. Pollock teaches across undergraduate, postgraduate, and apprenticeship social work programs, serving as module lead for 'Society, Welfare and Global Inequalities'. She supervises MA and PhD students while contributing to the MA Social Research program. Her recent publications reveal strong thematic consistency in child and family social work, workforce retention challenges, and strengths-based approaches in adult care.
