Chris King

Chris King is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Care and Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is a registered social worker and holds a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. With 17 years of experience in children's services, he has worked as a youth worker, residential worker, social worker, and workforce development manager, focusing on child protection, family support, and care system involvement. At Manchester Met, he supports social work education through teaching and mentoring across programs like BA Social Work, Step-Up to Social Work, and Social Work Degree Apprenticeships.

His research interests center on enhancing social work practice and workforce development, emphasizing the preparation of competent practitioners to address vulnerable populations' needs.
