Professor Sarah Neill is a Professor in Nursing at the University of Plymouth’s School of Nursing and Midwifery (Faculty of Health), serving as Associate Head of School (Research). Her expertise lies in acute childhood illness management, particularly in home and first-contact healthcare settings. She leads the ASK SNIFF research program and co-chairs the International Network for Child and Family Centred Care. Her work emphasizes collaborative research with families and clinicians to improve care access and decision-making. Notable projects include the BeArH study on hospital admission timing and the development of mobile apps for parental guidance.
Professor Neill has supervised numerous doctoral students, focusing on topics such as palliative care in Nigeria, evidence-based practice, and parents’ experiences with critically ill infants. She teaches qualitative research methods at postgraduate levels and chairs ethics committees. Her research spans global health challenges, including oral health in autistic children and pandemic impacts on nursing.
Her contributions extend to developing educational tools like the Student-led Health Promotion Toolkit and advancing family-centered care models. She collaborates internationally, addressing disparities in healthcare access and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.
