Professor Sarah McGann is the Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University's Faculty of Science Engineering and Built Environment. Her research focuses on the intersection of architecture, health services, and built environment design, particularly in aged care, dementia, and health promotion contexts.

McGann's recent research explores socio-spatial factors in housing, residential care facilities, and workplace design. Her 2025 work on housing models integrates socio-cultural and spatial dimensions, while her 2024 study on aged care facilities compares traditional and small household models. Earlier publications examine hospice spaces (2013-2016), hospital design creativity (2017), and workplace circulation impacts on physical activity (2014-2016). Her 15 most recent outputs span architecture, public health, and design innovation.
