Sarah M. Schettler is an Adjunct Professor and Director of the Flute Choir at Tulane University's Newcomb Department of Music (School of Liberal Arts), while concurrently serving as an Adjunct Instructor of Flute at the University of New Orleans. Previously, she held a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she taught flute and music theory. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) from Florida State University, complemented by degrees from Millikin University and the University of North Texas.
Her professional engagements include performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), Corpus Christi Symphony, Victoria Symphonies, and Orquestra Sinfónica de U.A.N.L. (Monterrey, Mexico). Her artistic achievements highlight prestigious recognitions such as participation in Trevor Wye's elite Flute Studio in England (2005-2006) and competition accolades including semifinalist placement in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and first prize in the Flute Society of Kentucky's equivalent.
Schettler’s work emphasizes flute pedagogy and orchestral performance, contributing to both academic and professional music communities through teaching, ensemble direction, and collaborative performances. Her roles at Tulane and UNO reflect her dedication to music education within a liberal arts framework.
