Dr. Sarah Kenny holds a dual appointment as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and the School of Creative and Performing Arts within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary. Her roles also include Child Health & Wellness Researcher at Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute and Full Member of the O’Brien Institute for Public Health. She completed her BA (2001), MSc (2004), and PhD (2017) in Dance Studies, Dance Science, and Sports Medicine, respectively, with international experience in the UK, USA, and Canada.
Her research focuses on two pillars: 'health for dance' (injury epidemiology and prevention strategies) and 'dance for health' (exploring dance as a tool for community health across populations). Key areas include youth street dance injury rates, older adult community dance programs, and social support in physical activity interventions.
