Sarah Junaid is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical, Biomedical & Design Engineering at Aston University, affiliated with the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. She is part of the EPS Education and Professional Practice Academic Research Group and the Engineering for Health Research Centre. Her research focuses on applying engineering principles to medical challenges, including implant mechanics, fracture fixation, and biomedical device design. She supervises PhD projects, such as developing implantable infection biosensors for long-term implant monitoring.
Her research interests include studying shoulder implant loosening, lower limb fracture monitoring via accelerometers, and co-designing dental therapy models. Techniques used include mechanical testing, finite element modeling, and CT imaging. She also contributes to engineering education through ethics integration in curricula.
Her recent articles span topics like microneedle drug delivery systems, additive manufacturing sustainability, and anatomical modeling for foot surgery advancements. She actively participates in conferences and collaborates internationally on biomedical engineering and ethics-related projects.
