Sarah Jane Hahn is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science and Sociology at Mercy University, where she also serves as Program Director for Behavioral Science. She is affiliated with the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and holds roles including Secretary of the Institutional and Professional Standards Committee, member of the Assessment of Student Learning (CASL) Committee, and SSBS School Assessment Coordinator. Her teaching focuses on gerontology, medical sociology, and research methodology.
Dr. Hahn’s research explores aging perceptions, ageism, death/dying studies, and pedagogical innovations like service-learning. She investigates how students proactively address aging challenges and the impact of intergenerational interactions on educational outcomes. Her work emphasizes assessment methodologies in higher education and strategies to enhance student learning through high-impact practices.
Her publications span gerontology (aging attitudes, caregiving dynamics) and LGBTQ+ experiences in academia, with notable contributions to Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services and International Journal of Aging and Human Development.
