Associate Professor Sarah J. Warren specializes in Russian Modernism and the development of Modern Craft at Purchase College's School of Humanities Department of Art History. She joined the faculty in 2006 and has authored a seminal book, Mikhail Larionov and the Cultural Politics of Late Imperial Russia, published in 2013 and reissued in 2016. Her work explores intersections of art, cultural politics, and identity, including curating the 2014 exhibition This Leads to Fire: Russian Art from Nonconformism to Global Capitalism. She is a recipient of prestigious awards including the Dedalus Foundation Grant and the James Renwick Senior Fellowship at the Smithsonian. Her current research investigates craft revivals and counterculture communities in the Northeast.
