Mark Rooker is a Professor of Art and Art Area Coordinator at James Madison University's School of Art, Design and Art History. He leads the Metals and Jewelry program, a role he has held since 2000. His work bridges metalsmithing, sculpture, and conceptual art, employing techniques like laser welding and anodizing. Notably, his work is part of the MoonArk project, a lunar art installation launched to the Moon.

He serves as a Visiting Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry. His work frequently explores themes of materiality and sociocultural narratives through dynamic, technically advanced metalwork.
