Sarah Himmelheber is a Professor at Warren Wilson College, where she focuses on community food security, the interplay between social and natural environments, mindfulness practice, and mental health. Her work bridges activism with academic research, particularly addressing food waste and recovery, informed by her clinical practice supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Education:
- B.A. in Political Science and Sociology, New College of Florida
- M.S.W., University of Georgia
- Ph.D. in Social Work, University of Georgia
Her teaching includes courses such as Skills of Helping Others, Social Welfare Policy and Services, and the capstone Field Education Seminar. She supervises social work internships and is a member of the Council on Social Work Education. Sarah is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina.
