Sarah Hart is a Professor Emerita of Mathematics at Birkbeck College, University of London, and held the Gresham Professorship of Geometry (2020–2024), the first woman to do so since its establishment in 1597. She specializes in group theory, the history of mathematics, and interdisciplinary connections between mathematics and culture. Her research explores topics like Coxeter groups, sum-free sets, and mathematical influences in literature and music. Hart is renowned for her public outreach efforts, including popular lectures at Gresham College and her book Once Upon a Prime, examining links between mathematics and literature. She has also served as President of the British Society for the History of Mathematics.
