Prof. Dr. Sarah Eaton is a Professor of Transregional China Studies at Humboldt University Berlin (HU) and co-founder of the Berlin Contemporary China Network (BCCN). Her work focuses on contemporary Chinese politics, political economy, and digital standardization. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto (2011) and previously taught at the University of Göttingen, Oxford, and Waterloo.
Current research explores China's role in global digital standardization, supported by German Research Foundation funding (2023-2026). She also leads projects on strengthening China competence in Berlin through Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research grants. Her research spans environmental governance, state-market relations, and authoritarian developmentalism.
