Dr. Sarah E. Cribbs is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Randolph-Macon College. She holds leadership roles as Director of Black Studies, Director of the Honors Program, and Vice Chair of the Institutional Review Board, among others. Her work focuses on racial inequality, intercultural competence, and social policy.

Her research examines racial boundary-making, the impact of charitable programs as racial projects, and the intersection of racial attitudes with policy decisions. She has published extensively on Confederate statues, social stratification, and academic labor dynamics. Her recent work includes entries in the Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology and Fifty Key Scholars in Black Sociological Thought.
Dr. Cribbs has received awards such as the Art Conway Enthusiasm for Teaching and Learning Award and the Higgins Academic Center Outstanding New Student Advocate. She actively trains faculty search committees and serves on multiple institutional committees addressing diversity and governance.
