Sarah Dunlop is a Lecturer in Practical Theology at Ridley Hall within the Cambridge Theological Federation and an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge. Her academic work bridges theology with visual research methodologies, specializing in using photography to explore contemporary religious practices. She previously served as Mission Tutor at Cranmer Hall, Durham University.
Her research focuses on visual ethnography, sociology of religion, and empirical theology, emphasizing how visual materials expand theological reflection. She actively contributes to global Practical Theology through memberships in the American Academy of Religion's Ecclesial Practices Unit, Ecclesiology and Ethnography Network, and British and Irish Association for Practical Theology.
Sarah teaches theological reflection, research methods, and pastoral care, aiming to integrate classroom learning with ministry practices. Her book Doing Theology with Photographs highlights her innovative approach to theological inquiry.
