Sarah Damaske is a Professor of Sociology and Labor and Employment Relations at Pennsylvania State University, serving as Associate Director of the Population Research Institute. She holds the Roy C. Buck Professorship in American Institutions. Her research focuses on gender, work-family dynamics, unemployment, inequality, and labor market precarity. Damaske is an award-winning author of three influential books, including The Tolls of Uncertainty (2021), which won the 2023 ASA William J. Goode Book Award. Her work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement, appearing in major media outlets like The New York Times and NPR.
Education: B.A. in Sociology from Hamilton College, M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from New York University. Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rice University (2009–2011).
