Erynn Casanova is a Professor and Head of the Sociology Department at the University of Cincinnati. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the CUNY Graduate Center, an MA in Latin American Studies from UC San Diego, and BA degrees in Spanish and English from the University of Rhode Island.
Her research focuses on gender, work, body politics, and Latin American societies, with a strong emphasis on ethnography and qualitative methods. Key themes include domestic labor in Ecuador, beauty industry dynamics, and transnational body politics. She has published extensively on topics such as domestic worker organizing, cosmetic surgery tourism, and gender performativity in popular culture.
