Sarah Cunningham is a Clinical Associate Professor and the founding Art Gallery Director at Pace University's Dyson College of Arts and Sciences in New York City. She holds a clinical academic appointment and plays a dual role in curatorial leadership and teaching, focusing on museum studies, visual literacy, and community engagement through the arts.
Her educational background includes a BA in American Studies from Tufts University and an MFA in Art Photography from Syracuse University. These academic foundations support her interdisciplinary approach to art and education.
Cunningham’s research and creative practice centers on curating contemporary art exhibitions that foster public dialogue and social change. She has curated over 50 exhibitions, such as rafa esparza: for you and the sky and Synphysica: Being Transducer, and emphasizes inclusive, community-driven programming. She is committed to extending art education beyond the university through workshops and partnerships with K–12 schools and cultural institutions.
Her externally funded projects include multiple grants from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for organizational support (2023–2025), reflecting sustained institutional recognition of her curatorial and educational programming.
