Sarah Cleeland Knight is Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Faculty Coordinator in the Politics, Economics, and Governance Department at American University's School of International Service. She holds a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University, M.A. in Foreign Service from Georgetown, and B.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington.
Her research examines the winners and losers from globalization and how these groups influence foreign economic policy, particularly trade and exchange rate policies. She has published on the history of Bretton Woods institutions, the global politics of e-commerce, and biases in international relations pedagogy. Her work has been funded by the Ford Foundation, DAAD/American Institute for Contemporary German Studies, and Georgetown University.
Professor Knight teaches courses in International Political Economy and Economic Warfare. Prior to joining American University, she taught at Georgetown University and worked at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, USDA's export promotion program, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce's international trade office.
