She investigates both the cultural production and consumption aspects of gaming, with attention to informal media economies and political dimensions of fan communities.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent focus on game studies, particularly examining otome games and their global reception. Her recent work (2022) explores intersectional and transcultural analysis frameworks for understanding diverse player communities, while earlier publications (2018-2019) established her expertise in otome game markets, fan labor, and emotional labor in gaming contexts. Her research spans both Western and Asian gaming contexts, with specific attention to Filipino and Korean gaming cultures.
Dr. Ganzon has developed expertise in analyzing how gaming communities navigate cultural differences while forming transnational connections. Her research highlights the political dimensions of player communities and how gaming experiences intersect with broader social identities and structures.
