Sarah Chace is an Associate Professor in the Department of Leadership and American Studies at Christopher Newport University (CNU), with affiliations to the Center for Sustainability in Education and the Honors Program. She obtained her EdD in Adult Learning and Leadership from Columbia University, an MPA in Leadership from Harvard’s Kennedy School, and an MA in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts. Her research focuses on adaptive leadership, adult development, and the psychodynamics of organizational behavior, with particular attention to American political and cultural contexts. Dr. Chace has held academic roles since 2009, including adjunct and visiting professor positions, and was granted tenure at CNU in 2022.
Her scholarship examines political moments through critical leadership studies and psychodynamic lenses. Notable works include analyses of the January 6th Capitol assault and the 2020 US election, alongside studies of historical leadership crises like the Cuban Missile Crisis.
