Dr. Sarah Bonewits Feldner is a Professor of Communication Studies and currently serves as the Dean of the Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University. She holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University (2002), an M.A. from Indiana University (1998), and a B.A. from the University of Kentucky (1995). Her research focuses on corporate communication, organizational identity, and social innovation, with notable contributions to understanding how organizations construct mission-driven narratives and engage in ethical issue management.
Her academic service includes roles such as Acting Dean (2018–2020), Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research (2014–2018), and Director of the Core of Common Studies (2016–2018). She has received prestigious awards, including the Marquette University John P. Raynor, S.J., Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence (2012) and the Dean’s Recognition Award for Outstanding Service (2013).
Feldner’s work integrates pedagogy with real-world issues, emphasizing engaged learning and service. She has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, exploring topics like corporate social responsibility and the intersection of media and organizational advocacy. Her recent grants include a NEH Connections Planning Grant for Marquette’s Core Curriculum and a Dual Degree Innovation Grant with an international partner.
Her professional affiliations include the National Communication Association, International Communication Association, and the Arthur W. Page Society. She has advised numerous master’s theses and contributed to curriculum development, including pioneering the Corporate Communication major at Marquette.
