Sarah Bisbing is an Associate Professor and Director of the Whittell Forest & Wildlife Area at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). She leads the Bisbing Lab within the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Science, part of the Max C. Fleischmann College of Agriculture. Her research focuses on forest persistence, resilience, and adaptation to climate change, disturbance regimes, and management practices. Key projects include studies on coast redwood resilience, salvage logging impacts, and the role of seed sources in high-elevation pine reforestation.

Research interests emphasize understanding abiotic and biotic factors influencing tree species distributions, regeneration success, and forest ecosystem dynamics. Projects often involve permanent plot networks for long-term monitoring, collaborating with land managers to bridge applied science and conservation.
Recent publications highlight fire management strategies, microbial responses to ecohydrologic gradients, and the ecological impacts of climate-induced mortality in Alaska yellow-cedar forests. The lab actively engages in silvicultural experiments to assess forest adaptive capacity under changing environmental conditions.
