Professor Hall Cushman is a climate-change and community ecologist at the University of Nevada, Reno, leading the Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Science. His research focuses on ecological consequences of climate change, tree/shrub population dynamics, riparian restoration, herbivore impacts, and invasive species. He holds a B.S. from Marlboro College, M.S. from University of Arizona, and Ph.D. from Northern Arizona University.

Research emphasizes applied conservation science, with projects spanning aspen population dynamics, ungulate ecology, and invasive species management. Recent work includes studying whitebark pine ecology and effects of reintroduced herbivores on grasslands.
Lab activities include mentoring graduate students/postdocs (e.g., Liz Reikowski, Jacob Macdonald) and organizing symposia on topics like forest resilience and aspen conservation. Active in field-based experiments and landscape-level analysis.
Current opportunities: Postdoc/Ph.D. positions available studying high-elevation conifers. Lab operates from the Max C. Fleischmann College of Agriculture Building in Reno, NV.
