Sarah Allred is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Berry College. She holds a PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research focuses on higher education in carceral settings, employing participatory methodologies that center incarcerated individuals as collaborators. She specializes in program evaluation, particularly in prison-based academic initiatives, and teaches courses on research methods, health, disability, and social inequality. Allred is affiliated with the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program and serves as an evaluator for the Floyd Against Drugs Coalition.
Her research interests include corrections policy, participatory evaluation, and the intersection of health and disability in carceral contexts. She actively contributes to professional organizations such as the Georgia Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (GACHEP) and the Evaluation & Research Committee for the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.
