Angela Bryant is an Associate Professor of Sociology at The Ohio State University-Newark. She co-founded the Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project (OPEEP) and served as statewide coordinator for Inside-Out courses in Ohio from 2010-2020. Her research focuses on criminology, racial/ethnic/gender disparities in justice systems, and prison education programs as decarceration strategies.

Research Priorities: Utilizes participatory action research (PAR) with Inside-Out alumni to improve prison programs and reentry initiatives. Advocates for penal abolition through expanding higher education access for incarcerated individuals and justice-involved populations.
Grants & Impact: Secured multiple internal/external grants for prison education initiatives. Grew Ohio's Inside-Out program to 20 annual courses across 11 prisons involving 16 faculty from 10 colleges.
