Professor Sara Walker holds the position of Professor of Energy and serves as Co-Director of the Birmingham Energy Institute at the University of Birmingham. Her primary affiliation is with the School of Chemical Engineering. She leads the UKRI Hub on Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transitions (HI-ACT) and co-directs the UKRI Energy Demand Research Centre (EDRC). Her research focuses on energy transitions, whole energy systems analysis, building energy performance optimization, and hydrogen integration within energy systems.
She actively contributes to national energy policy through roles on the UKRI Strategic Advisory Committee on Energy and Decarbonisation, the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) Advisory Board, and the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Research Centre (UKCCSRC) Advisory Board.
Her professional activities include directing major research initiatives and advising on energy decarbonisation strategies, reflecting her leadership in advancing sustainable energy solutions.
