Professor Sara Uckelman is a distinguished academic at Durham University, serving as Professor, Co-Director of the Durham Centre for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, and Deputy Director of Liberal Arts. She is also the Departmental Representative for Medieval Philosophy within the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies. Joining Durham in 2014, she previously held research positions in Heidelberg, Tilburg, and Amsterdam.
Uckelman earned her MA in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin and completed her PhD in Logic at the University of Amsterdam with a dissertation on Modalities in Medieval Logic, which combined her dual passions for logic and medieval history. In 2017, she co-founded the Durham Centre for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, where she currently serves as co-director.

She is also Editor-in-Chief of the Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources and heads the SFFReviews.com site for science fiction and fantasy reviews, demonstrating her commitment to bridging academic and popular discourse.
