Sara Sunderlin

Sara Sunderlin is a Senior Lecturer in the Apparel, Retail Merchandising, and Design program at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where she has been employed since 2001. She teaches courses such as Fashion Dynamics, Sustainability and Social Change in Fashion, Textiles, Visual Merchandising, and Product Development. Her office is located in EML 308E.

Research & Engagement: Sunderlin focuses on integrating sustainability practices, textile innovation, and contemporary design methodologies. She advises the Fashion Apparel and Business Organization (FABO), which annually hosts a fashion show showcasing student and local designs. She also oversees the NDSU Tartan, a fabric design created by an NDSU student in 2011, with proceeds from tartan merchandise supporting student scholarships.

Community Involvement: She serves on the Board of Directors for Nome Eweniversity, a nonprofit associated with the Nome Schoolhouse project in Nome, North Dakota.
